How to prepare
- For abdominal ultrasound, come after 6 hours of fasting.
- For pelvic and early pregnancy scans, drink 3–4 glasses of water an hour before and do not pass urine.
- For KUB and prostate scans, a full bladder is required.
- Antenatal scans need no fasting — eat normally and come comfortably.
- Carry your previous scan reports, LMP date and antenatal card.
- A female attendant is available on request for every scan.

Questions patients ask
Do you tell the sex of the baby?
No. Prenatal sex determination is a criminal offence under the PCPNDT Act, 1994. It is never done or disclosed here, and no one should ask.
Will the doctor do the scan himself?
Yes. Dr. Mate performs the sonography himself and explains the findings to you at the end of the scan.
How many scans are needed in pregnancy?
Usually three — a dating scan, the NT scan at 11–13.6 weeks and the anomaly scan at 18–22 weeks, plus growth scans if your obstetrician advises them.
