How to prepare
- Bring your referral letter, all previous imaging and any earlier biopsy or pathology reports.
- A recent coagulation profile — PT/INR and platelet count — is required before any biopsy or drainage.
- Tell us if you take aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin or any blood thinner. These often need to be stopped first, but only on your treating doctor's advice — never stop them on your own.
- Come after 6 hours of fasting for most procedures.
- Bring a relative with you. You should not drive yourself home afterwards.
- Written consent is taken, and the procedure is explained to you fully, before anything begins.

Questions patients ask
Is it painful?
Local anaesthetic is given first, so you feel pressure and movement rather than pain. Most patients are surprised how little there is to it.
How long does it take?
Most procedures take 20–45 minutes, and you are observed here for a while afterwards before going home. Nothing here requires admission.
When will I get the result?
The imaging report is ready the same day. Biopsy and FNAC samples go to the pathology lab of your choice, and that report comes on the lab's own timeline — usually two to four days.
Do I need to be admitted to hospital?
No. These are day procedures — you come, it is done, you are watched for a short while and you go home the same day.
