How to prepare

  • No fasting or preparation is required.
  • Remove earrings, nose pins, chains, spectacles, hairpins and removable dentures.
  • Carry your dentist's referral slip — it tells us which region and field of view to capture.
  • You will be asked to stand or sit still for 15–30 seconds while the arm rotates.
  • Tell the technician if you may be pregnant.
  • Small children may need a parent standing alongside with a lead apron.

Questions patients ask

What is the difference between OPG and CBCT?

An OPG is a single flat picture of all your teeth. CBCT is a true 3D scan that shows bone height, width and the position of nerves — essential before an implant.

Will my dentist get the 3D data?

Yes. Along with the printed films we supply a CD with DICOM data that opens in standard implant planning software.

Is the radiation high?

No. Dental CBCT uses a small, focused field with a dose far lower than a medical CT of the head.
